The Author / The Mission & Vision
Tonya Gilbert is the acclaimed author of “I’m A Big Helper". Her passion is promoting literary works that foster growth, healing, and well-being. When she is not writing, Tonya practices clinically as a certified behavioral health Physician Associate. She also is the Founder of GrowGurl, Inc., a nonprofit wellness organization developing women of purpose and creating safe spaces for women and girls to unpack trauma.
Tonya began Big helper Books, Inc. with a mission to encourage reading among youth, introduce positive storylines, and advocate for equitable access to books for children everywhere.
Vision: To globally build confidence and improve self-esteem among youth through positive literature.
The Big Helper Story
Big Helper Books is a venue for inspirational works of children's literature. The concept began over 20 years ago when Tonya's eldest son was a toddler and routinely helped around the house. Being a Big Helper became a theme at clean-up time and continued while raising her daughter and youngest son.
The first book, "I'm a Big Helper", was published and released in 2013. It soon became a household read for children across the U.S. For over a decade, little girls and boys have had the pleasure of reading about Micah working hard from morning til night and teaching other children how to do what's right.
Big Helper Books' sophomore project, "God Makes Us All Unique" is now available. You and your family are in for a huge surprise. Join Micah as he explores differences in the world around him, celebrates the beauty of uniqueness, and embraces a positive self-image.
